Heaven House Update 06/07/10 Hello Heaven House supporters and volunteers! This is it folks… The finish line is within sight. Hallelujah! First, let me update you on all of the progress being made. If you pass by the HH site, you may notice that an amazing deck is being built around the back of the house. The siding on the house is nearly finished. The gutters and downspouts are in place. Also, some very exciting news came from Franklin Energies. They recently performed an air infiltration test… and HH passed with flying colors! We are so excited at all awesome progress taking place that we’ve set a finish date of July 17. There is only one way to successfully realize that goal… VOLUNTEERS. We need you, and we need you NOW! It doesn’t matter if you’ve already volunteered a dozen times or if you’ve never volunteered. It doesn’t matter if you are a skilled laborer or a stay at home mom. It doesn’t matter if you feel like you have something to contribute or not. All you need to say is YES, and we will put that one word into action. If you are interested in helping out in any way, please contact Tom Schwalbach right away at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . A big thank you is extended to every person and organization that has participated so far. But it’s not quite over yet. We are scheduling the “Turning Over The Keys Ceremony” for the end of August. One year from the date this project began. Please help us to achieve the timeline goals that have been set. Through the grace and might of God and our willingness to extend a hand, we can get this done. Thank you and God bless you!

Heaven House Update 03-16-10

An important message to all Heaven House supporters, volunteers, dedicated workers, random passer-by-ers, and anyone else receiving this update: IT’S TIME!  Whether you have been on site working more hours than at your regular job, or whether you’ve been waiting and wondering how you can help… right now is the time to step up.  We are in the home stretch for the project, and workers are needed every day… morning, noon, and night.  You do not need to be a skilled construction worker to volunteer.  We are looking for willing hands and able bodies.  For safety reasons, there must be at least two workers on site, so multiple volunteers are necessary.  Please contact Tom Schwalbach at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to find out how you can help.

We have made so much progress this past month.  Some of the accomplishments include the installation and completed inspection of the rough plumbing, electrical, ventilation work, and insulation in the walls.  The structural rough inspection has also been completed.  As you drive by, you’ll also notice that the siding is also nearly completed, thanks to the YouthBuild team.  Currently, drywall work has begun inside the house.  Very soon, we will be ready to start painting the rooms.  Landscaping companies are already planning the work outside of the house.  We have even started to plan our celebration of turning over the keys to the family!  Stay tuned, as you will not want to miss that event.

While visiting the website,
click on “How can I give?” to find a database that lists EVERYTHING still needed to complete this project, from rough materials to specific furnishings and everything in between.  There is still so much needed.  I encourage you to visit the website today to find out what you may be able to provide.

There are still opportunities to become part of a design team and take on the task of planning and furnishing one of the rooms in the house.  Contact Robin at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to get on board.  There is also still a need to fundraise so we can complete this project.  Finally, we are still in need of more people to serve meals to the wonderful volunteer crews working at the site.  To help with food service, contact Gary and Marge at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  We will continue to keep all of you updated as things develop.  Thank you so much for your support.  Please continue to keep this project in your prayers.

Until next time…  J
